Meet Tommy

About:

Tommy has been a PTR certified Tennis Pro for 30 years and created Serving Aces upon moving to Florida. He began his career in 1985 when former NFL Quarterback Ron Jaworksi hired Tommy as a Staff Pro at his tennis club in Philadelphia. It was just two short years later that Tommy assumed the title of Youth Tennis Director and shortly after took the reigns as the Club Director, all while teaching full time.

As a player Tommy competed primarily in doubles and some singles at college and was voted the rookie of the year in his freshman year. After college Tom competed in local and regional USTA sanctioned tournaments. He achieved a personal best 5.5 USTA rating and during a three year stretch held down a top 100 Middle States ranking, including one year at #50.

Philosophy:

Tommy's philosophy has always been to treat students as the individuals that they are. While many Pros and Academies teach with a one size fits all approach and focus on creating tennis clones, Tommy tailors his approach depending on the abilities, capabilities and goals of his individual students. Teaching an adult beginner in the same manner as athletic teenager can and will lead to frustration, injury and a very short lived tennis career. Tommy has the advantage of having witnessed the evolution of tennis mechanics for the last three decades and uses his accumulated knowlege to determine what techniques work best for individual students. Some of his methods are old school, many are new, but no matter what, he keeps the learning process simple and always fun.
